Four Songs

Hélène Claeys, a young lady having won several awards writing poems (for instance at the Soetendale Youth Poetry Contest) inspired Tom De Haes when writing the lyrics for his Vier Liederen (Four Songs). She wrote the verses at the age of 14 and 15. The contest's jury wrote the following about her work:
"In each new poem, Hélène continues to draw our attention, whether it is by her power to let strong feelings allegorically speak through a 'near objective' and continuous figure of speech, or using a religiously metaphysical point of view. Sometimes she seems to be placing the story of man kind in a perspective of creation or redemption."
