Modal Suite

The Modal Suite for clarinet choir is a rather early piece in which modality is explored. In 5 character pieces the Dorian, Phrygian, Lydian, Mixolydian and the Aeolian mode are introduced, treading on and beyond the boundaries of modality. This composition was premiered at the Singel (Antwerp) by the Clarinet choir 'Walter Boeykens' and the clarinet ensemble of the Lemmens Institute, directed by Greet Severens.
